Customs Office Amends Notice No. 22/2020: Importers Can Submit Undertaking Instead of Bond During COVID-19 Lockdown.
The Customs Office has amended Public Notice No. 22/2020 to facilitate trade during the COVID-19 lockdown by allowing importers and Custom Brokers to submit an undertaking instead of a bond under the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment extends the deadline for submitting the proper bond to May 30, 2020, and requires the undertaking to be submitted via the registered email of the IBC holder or their authorized Customs Broker, and uploaded in e-Sanchit. The rest of the original notice remains unchanged. Trade associations and Customs Brokers are urged to disseminate this information, and any issues should be reported to the Additional Commissioner of Customs.
