<h1>Customs Department Launches Nationwide Automated Goods Clearance, Effective March 5, 2020, u/s 47(1) of Customs Act 1962.</h1> The Customs Department has announced the implementation of automated clearance for goods on an All-India basis, effective from March 5, 2020. This system, governed by Section 47(1) of the Customs Act 1962, allows electronic clearance of goods through the Customs Automated System based on risk evaluation. The automated clearance is applicable at ICES locations with a fully functional Risk Management System (RMS). Customs Compliance Verification (CCV) will be conducted by designated officers, and clearance will be granted electronically upon confirmation of duty payment. The initiative, initially a pilot, is now extended to all operational Customs EDI locations.
