of <h1>Customs Advisory: No Container Detention or Ground Rent Charges for Imports During COVID-19 Lockdown (March 24-April 14, 2020.</h1> The advisory issued by the Commissioner of Customs, Government of India, addresses the non-charging of container detention and ground rent charges for import cargo from March 24 to April 14, 2020, due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to curb COVID-19. The lockdown has hindered the movement of goods and importers, leading to difficulties in securing the release of imported goods. Shipping lines and custodians of Container Freight Stations (CFSs) are advised to adopt a sympathetic approach and refrain from imposing these charges during the specified period, beyond the standard free time arrangement, to support the trade sector.
