of <h1>Mumbai Customs Streamlines First-Time Importer Registration Process; Updates in Public Notice No. 59/2009.</h1> First-time importers through Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House must submit specific documents, including a VAT/sales tax registration certificate, bank certification, proof of payment, previous year's balance sheet, and the last income tax return. The Chief Commissioners of Customs in Mumbai have agreed to streamline the verification process across the three Mumbai zones. Once an importer is registered in one zone, they need not register again in the other zones, except for random checks. Verified importers' names will be updated weekly on the respective zone's website, and the procedure in Public Notice No. 59/2009 is amended accordingly.
