India Increases Drawback Rates for Exporters, Auto Credit for EDI Bills Since April 2007; Manual Filing Still Needed for Some.
The Government of India has announced an increase in drawback rates for specified items, effective retrospectively from April 1, 2007. Exporters will receive the differential drawback amounts automatically credited to their accounts via the EDI system, without needing to file supplementary claims for EDI shipping bills issued between April 1 and July 17, 2007. However, exporters using manual shipping bills or those dealing with 37 specified drawback heads must file supplementary claims manually. This decision aims to streamline the process for exporters while maintaining manual procedures for certain exceptions. Any issues should be reported to the Joint Commissioner (Systems).
