Chennai Port Customs Launches Digital Finalization for Provisionally Assessed Bills of Entries; E-Payment for Duty Differences Now Available.
A new module has been implemented in ICES 1.5 for the finalization of Provisionally Assessed Bills of Entries (BEs) at the Chennai Port Customs House. Importers and Customs Brokers must approach group officers for finalization, which is now processed digitally by Assessing Officers and Group AC/DCs using specific roles in ICES 1.5. If duty liability increases, Importers/Brokers must pay the differential duty through E-payment, with the system integrating the payment. In cases where duty remains unchanged or is reduced, they can proceed directly to bond credit/closure. Any issues should be reported to the Assistant Commissioner (EDI).
