India Forms Customs Clearance Facilitation Committee to Speed Up Import/Export Processes at Ports and Airports.
The Government of India has established the Customs Clearance Facilitation Committee (CCFC) to expedite customs clearance of imported and exported goods at seaports and airports. This initiative aims to streamline processes by improving coordination among various government agencies and stakeholders involved in customs clearance, such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority, Plant and Animal Quarantine Authorities, and the Drug Controller of India. The CCFC, led by the Chief Commissioner of Customs in Chennai, will address bottlenecks and trade grievances, ensure timely clearance, and recommend best practices. The committee will meet weekly or as needed to fulfill its objectives.
