of <h1>New Online Procedure for DES & EPCG Licenses from July 1, 2009; Use License/File Numbers for Transactions.</h1> The circular from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs in Ahmedabad outlines the revised procedure for the online transmission of licenses and authorizations under the Duty Exemption Schemes (DES) and Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme (EPCG). Effective from July 1, 2009, the procedure applies to licenses issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on or after March 1, 2009. Exporters and importers are advised to use the License/File Numbers for transactions instead of manually obtained registration numbers. The notice urges trade associations and related parties to disseminate this information for compliance.
