Customs Authority Announces Retroactive Increase in Drawback Rates; Exporters to Receive Automatic Adjustments for EDI Shipments.
The Customs authority announced an increase in drawback rates for specified items, effective retrospectively from April 1, 2007. Exporters will automatically receive the differential drawback amounts for exports processed through the EDI system without needing to file supplementary claims for shipments between April 1 and July 17, 2007. However, exporters using manual shipping bills must file supplementary claims. Automatic credit will not apply to 37 specific drawback heads, for which manual claims are required. Exporters facing issues should contact the Commissioner of Customs.
