Customs Notice Lifts Ban on Stickers for BIS Standard Mark; Follow 2016 Amendment for Electronics Goods Labeling.
Public Notice No. 02/2019, issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Customs in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh, informs importers, exporters, and other stakeholders about changes in labeling requirements. It removes the prohibition on using stickers for displaying the BIS Standard Mark on products under the BIS product certification scheme. Goods should not be denied clearance solely due to sticker usage. The notice also directs adherence to the 2016 Amendment Order for Electronics and Information Technology Goods, allowing the Standard Mark to be affixed by representatives of manufacturing units in India. Any issues should be reported to the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Appraising-Import.
