Customs Update: New Weight-Based Assessment Guidelines for Import Consignments at Mundra Port Replace Previous Value Limit.
The circular from the Principal Commissioner of Customs at Mundra Port outlines revised guidelines for assessing and examining goods based on weight under the Customs Act, 1962. It addresses issues with the previous value limit of Rs. 25,000 for import consignments involving multiple containers, which has now been removed. The new guidelines specify actions based on weight deviations: ignoring variations up to 1%, including excess goods value for deviations between 1% to 5% without adjudication, and initiating adjudication for variations over 5%. The notice excludes marble blocks and restricted goods, which are to be handled per existing laws.
