Mandatory Warehousing Removed for EOUs, STPIs, and EHTPs; New Procurement Certificate Process Effective August 13, 2016.
The circular announces the removal of mandatory warehousing requirements for 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs), Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs), and Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTPs) effective from August 13, 2016. The units are no longer required to send re-warehousing certificates to Customs Stations. Instead, they must provide a Procurement Certificate at import and submit a copy of the Bill of Entry to the jurisdictional office for reconciliation. The previous procedures outlined in Public Notice No. 43/2011 are modified accordingly, allowing for smoother clearance of goods.
