DGFT Announces Phase-Out of Physical MEIS & SEIS Duty Credit Scrips for EDI Ports Starting April 10, 2019.
The circular announces the phasing out of physical copies of Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) and Services Exports from India Scheme (SEIS) duty credit scrips for EDI ports, effective from April 10, 2019. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) will transmit these scrips electronically to the Customs system, visible in the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES). The current process for registration and assessment remains, but physical copies are no longer required. Electronic debits in ICES will replace physical debits. Paperless scrips cannot be used for imports at non-EDI ports, and physical scrips will continue for non-EDI ports.
