India Phases Out Physical MEIS & SEIS Scrips for EDI Ports; Transition to Electronic Transmission from April 10, 2019.
The Government of India has announced the phasing out of physical copies of Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) and Services Exports from India Scheme (SEIS) Duty Credit Scrips for EDI ports, effective from April 10, 2019. These scrips will now be transmitted electronically, with details accessible to customs officers via the ICES system. The current procedure for registration, assessment, and debiting will continue, but without the need for physical scrips. Physical scrips will still be issued for non-EDI ports. Changes to procedures for Central Excise duty exemptions have been notified to accommodate this transition.
