Deadline Extension for Mandatory RFID E-Sealing of Export Containers per Customs Circular No. 51/2017.
The circular outlines the implementation of electronic sealing for containers under self-sealing procedures, as per Customs Circular No. 51/2017. The Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) has extended the deadlines for mandatory self-sealing using RFID e-seals for different categories of exporters. Voluntary adoption is allowed until March 1, 2018, after which it becomes mandatory for specific exporters and locations. From April 1, 2018, the e-sealing procedure will be compulsory for all ports and Inland Container Depots (ICDs) not covered in the specified locations. Exporters can adopt the new procedure if RFID readers are available at their export Customs station.
