of <h1>India's Ministry of Finance Restores Service-Specific Tax Codes; Taxpayers Must Update Registrations Online for Compliance.</h1> The circular from the Government of India's Ministry of Finance announces the restoration of service-specific accounting codes for service tax payments. Existing registrations under the positive list approach remain valid, while new taxpayers can register by selecting from 120 service descriptions provided in an annexure. Taxpayers with registrations under 'OTHER THAN THE NEGATIVE LIST' should amend their applications online to select relevant descriptions. Pending amendments for 'all taxable services' may not be necessary, and field officers will guide taxpayers. The Directorate General of Systems will update necessary forms to display the service descriptions and accounting codes.
