Customs Circular Ends Ex-Post Facto Approvals for Waiving Physical Warehousing; Waivers Allowed for Specific Cases u/ss 60 & 67.
The circular from the Central Board of Excise & Customs, dated June 15, 1988, announces the termination of ex-post facto approvals for waiving physical warehousing at ports of importation, rescinding earlier instructions. However, Assistant Collectors of Customs may grant waivers with Collector approval in specific cases: merchanting trade, duty-exempt goods like stores and spare parts, equipment for 100% EOUs, manufacture-in-bond permissions, and items requiring special handling. This waiver applies to goods needing urgent clearance, especially for reputed companies, under sections 60 and 67 of the Customs Act, 1962.
