of <h1>India Launches ICES 1.5 at Jakhau Port for Electronic Import/Export Document Processing; Registration Required for Traders and Agents.</h1> The Indian Customs EDI System (ICES 1.5) has been launched at Jakhau Port, enabling electronic processing of import and export documents. Importers and exporters must register their Import Export Codes (IE-Codes) with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and ensure these are transmitted to ICES for electronic filing of Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills. Customs Brokers, Shipping Lines, and Consol Agents must also register with ICES. The system automates document processing, including currency exchange rates and unit codes. Service charges apply for data entry at service centers. The system facilitates remote filing through ICEGATE and ensures compliance with various regulatory requirements, including duty payments, audits, and amendments. The system aims to streamline customs processes, improving efficiency and transparency in trade operations.
