of <h1>Central Board of Excise and Customs Launches Optional E-Filing for Excise Returns Starting June 30, 2004.</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs has introduced an optional electronic filing system for Central Excise Returns, effective June 30, 2004. This system allows manufacturers, EOUs, and registered dealers with a 15-digit Excise Control Code to file monthly and quarterly returns electronically. Assessees must apply to their jurisdictional officers to obtain login credentials. The system includes features for data validation and correction, and it allows for both online and offline data entry. While e-filing is encouraged, manual filing remains available. The initiative aims to facilitate trade, and extensive training and support will be provided to ensure smooth implementation.
