of <h1>SEBI Sets USD 0.5 Billion Cap on FII Corporate Debt Investments, Separate from USD 1.75 Billion Government Debt Limit.</h1> The circular issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) addresses Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) investments in debt securities. It establishes a cumulative sub-ceiling of USD 0.5 billion for FII investments in corporate debt, separate from the USD 1.75 billion cap for government debt. These limits apply to both 100% debt route and the general 70:30 route. The circular mandates no further investment or rollover in corporate debt until holdings fall within the USD 0.5 billion cap. Additionally, only 100% debt FIIs can invest in government debt up to their unutilized limits. Custodians must inform their FII clients of these changes.
