India Mandates eSANCHIT for Customs: Electronic Document Upload Now Mandatory for Brokers and Self-Filers, Enhancing Efficiency.
The Government of India has mandated the use of the eSANCHIT system for Customs brokers and self-filers to upload documents electronically, transitioning from voluntary to obligatory participation. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of Customs clearance processes. Non-compliance will result in the inability to file documents on ICEGATE. The system eliminates the need for hardcopy documents, with specific counters designated for mandatory verification of original documents. Officers are instructed to adhere to the eSANCHIT procedures, and any issues should be reported to the relevant office. The initiative is supported by a CBEC directive.
