Customs Mandates Paperless Processing via SWIFT & e-SANCHIT for Importers/Exporters under 2018 Regulations; Effective April 1, 2018.
The Customs department has mandated the implementation of paperless processing through the SWIFT system, utilizing the e-SANCHIT utility for uploading digitally signed supporting documents. Effective from April 1, 2018, importers, exporters, and Customs House Brokers must submit documents electronically under the Bill of Entry (Electronic Integrated Declaration and Paperless Processing) Regulations, 2018. While most documents do not require physical submission, certain original documents must be presented for verification. Authorized individuals must retain all original documents for five years. This notice supersedes previous procedures regarding the submission of original documents and serves as a standing order for customs officers.
