of <h1>Clarification on Narcotics Act in SEZs: Authorization needed for API exports and imports between SEZs, DTA, and outside India.</h1> Clarifications have been issued regarding the applicability of the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act within Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The Act defines 'export from India' as taking goods outside India and 'import to India' as bringing goods into India. Since both Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) and SEZs are within India, authorization from the Central Bureau of Narcotics is required only for exporting Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) from SEZs to outside India, importing them into SEZs from outside India, and selling them in the DTA.
