of <h1>DGFT Amends EPCG Authorization: Customs Duty Reduced from 5% to 3% for April 2008 Period.</h1> The Directorate General of Foreign Trade issued a circular regarding an amendment to the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) Authorization for the period from April 1, 2008, to April 11, 2008. Initially, authorizations were issued at a 5% customs duty, but the revised Foreign Trade Policy effective from April 1, 2008, set the duty at 3%. Consequently, authorizations from this period will be deemed to have been issued at the 3% rate, and customs will automatically apply this rate. Regional Authorities are instructed to update the authorizations accordingly. This amendment is approved by the DGFT.
