Customs Update: Exporters Can Receive Drawback Payments in Any Core Banking Branch via RTGS/NEFT from July 1, 2008.
The circular from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs (Export) at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House announces a new procedure for the payment of drawbacks to exporters. Previously, exporters needed a bank account at the authorized branch at the port of export for direct credit of drawback amounts. With advancements in banking technology, exporters can now receive drawback payments in any core banking enabled branch across the country. This includes using RTGS and NEFT for banks outside the authorized network. Exporters must register their bank details with Customs officials, and these changes take effect from July 1, 2008.
