SEBI Updates Annual Issuers' Charges Calculation Methodology; Now Based on Average Folios for Previous Year.
The circular issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) revises the methodology for calculating Annual Issuers' charges. Instead of basing charges on the total number of folios (ISIN positions) as of March 31, they will now be calculated using the average number of folios throughout the previous financial year. Stock exchanges and depositories must amend relevant bye-laws and regulations, inform listed companies and depository participants, and report implementation status to SEBI. Any excess or deficit from this change should be adjusted with issuers for the current financial year. The circular aims to protect investor interests and regulate the securities market.
