of <h1>Ministry of Finance Clarifies: No Cess on Tea Waste, Only on Tea Produced, Per Tea Act Section 25.</h1> The circular issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, addresses concerns raised by the trade regarding the collection of cess on tea waste by Central Excise Field formations. It clarifies that, according to the Tea Act of 1953, cess is applicable only to tea produced in the country and not on tea waste or sweepings collected in tea factories. The Board has examined the matter and directs that no cess should be collected on tea waste as per Section 25 of the Tea Act. Relevant parties are to be informed accordingly.
