of <h1>Customs Authority Shift: Chennai Customs Officers to Handle Brand Rate Fixation and Duty-Free Imports from January 15, 2018.</h1> The circular from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, Chennai, announces a change in jurisdictional authority for handling customs-related tasks such as brand rate fixation, acceptance of B-17 Bonds/LUT, and duty-free imports at concessional rates. Effective from January 15, 2018, these tasks, previously managed by Central Excise Officers, will be handled by customs officers in the Chennai Zone. Additionally, the drawback section will now manage drawback claims for exporters supplying goods to SEZ Units. Stakeholders are encouraged to report any implementation difficulties or provide suggestions.
