CENVAT Credit Update: Customs Endorsement on Bill of Entry No Longer Required u/r 9, CENVAT Credit Rules 2004.
The circular informs importers, customs house agents, and trade members about changes in the procedure for endorsing the Bill of Entry for CENVAT purposes. It references previous public notices and explains that the practice of endorsement by customs officers, previously required for MODVAT credit, is no longer necessary under the CENVAT Credit Rules 2004. The circular specifies that Rule 9 of the CENVAT Credit Rules 2004 outlines the documents needed for availing credit, and as such, the earlier requirement is dispensed with. Consequently, Public Notice No. 35/95 is withdrawn, and Public Notice No. 85/99 is amended.
