of <h1>Central Excise, Pune-I to Implement EASIEST for Tax Payments Using 15-Digit PAN Codes Starting November 1, 2006.</h1> The Commissioner of Central Excise, Pune-I, announces the implementation of the Electronic Accounting System in Central Excise and Service Tax (EASIEST) effective from November 1, 2006. This system requires all accounting to use 15-digit PAN-based codes, replacing the previous 10-digit codes. EASIEST facilitates online transmission of tax payment data to improve the Tax Information Network. Assessees must obtain the new codes by October 31, 2006, to avoid issues with tax remittances. Trade associations and industry chambers are urged to inform their members of these changes.
