of <h1>India Expands TRP Scheme to Include TDS and Service Tax Returns; Free Retraining for 3,500 Preparers Announced.</h1> The Government of India has expanded the Tax Return Preparer (TRP) Scheme to include the preparation and filing of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and Service Tax returns, in addition to income tax returns. The Central Board of Direct Taxes will provide free retraining for approximately 3,500 TRPs, including those who did not previously qualify, through a 15-day program. The training will cover practical aspects of tax return preparation and require TRPs to pass a certification test to renew their licenses. The initiative aims to enhance TRPs' skills, increase their work scope, and improve tax compliance.
