of <h1>Central Directory for Custom House Agents to Streamline Operations; PAN Becomes Unique ID. Update by Oct 15, 2005.</h1> A centralized directory for Custom House Agents (CHAs) is being established to streamline operations across Customs Houses following the Custom House Agents' Licensing Regulations 2004. This directory will eliminate the need for CHAs to register separately at each location. The Permanent Account Number (PAN) will serve as the unique identifier for CHAs, replacing the current non-unique registration numbers. CHAs must update their registration details by submitting specific documents to the Service Centre in Bangalore. The updated directory will be available on a central server by October 15, 2005. A fee of Rs. 30 per form will be charged for this update process.
