Digital Signature Certificates Required for Export/Import Transactions via ICEGATE; Register by Oct 15, 2005, for Free.
The Central Board of Excise and Customs has introduced a facility for obtaining Digital Signature Certificates through iCERT to secure transactions via ICEGATE. Effective from November 1, 2005, all shipping bills and bills of entry for exports and imports must be digitally signed using Class III Digital Signature Certificates. Importers, exporters, and other trading entities must register and obtain these certificates by October 15, 2005. The registration process involves online form submission, verification by the Central Excise team, and certificate delivery via email. A help desk is available for support, and registration is free for the financial year 2005-06.
