E-Payment of Customs Duties Now Available for Kandla Port Imports via ICES; Streamlines Process and Cuts Costs.
The circular outlines the procedure for e-payment of customs duties under the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) for imports at Kandla Port. Previously, payments were made only at the State Bank of India's Kandla branch. Now, importers can pay duties through net banking without extra costs, reducing transaction time and costs. The e-payment system, effective from August 14, 2007, allows importers with internet-enabled accounts at SBI to pay online. The process involves accessing the Customs E-Payment Gateway via ICEGATE, selecting unpaid challans, and completing transactions through authorized banks. The system ensures efficient customs clearance without needing physical payment proof.
