of <h1>DGFT Clarifies EPCG Scheme: Import Construction Equipment Only for Service Providers, Not Factory Projects.</h1> The circular from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade addresses the import of construction equipment under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) Scheme. It clarifies that such imports are not allowed solely for construction activities related to building factories or projects by EPCG authorization applicants. Instead, imports are permitted for service providers who use the equipment to offer services specified in Appendix X of the Handbook of Procedures-vol-1. Additionally, payments for these services must be received in free foreign exchange or Indian Rupees deemed equivalent by the Reserve Bank of India. This directive is issued with the approval of the Director General of Foreign Trade.
