Customs Waives Provisional Duty Bonds for Iron Ore Fines Exports; Testing for Fe Content Still Required.
The Commissioner of Customs at New Mangalore has announced the waiver of provisional duty bonds for the export of iron ore fines, following the removal of export duty as per Notification No. 129/2008. While the bonds are no longer required, iron ore fines will still undergo testing to ensure the Fe content does not exceed 64%, as exports with higher Fe content are restricted through MMTC. Exporters must provide an undertaking for potential penalties if the Fe content exceeds the limit. Shipments from Kudramukh Iron Ore Company Ltd. and iron ore lumps will continue to be tested for moisture content.
