of <h1>India Prohibits Import of Chinese Toys Under ITC Codes 9501, 9502, 9503; Exceptions for Pre-Notification Shipments.</h1> Notification No. 82 (RE-2008) dated 23.01.2009 prohibits the import of toys originating from China, identified under ITC Codes 9501, 9502, 9503, regardless of the country of import. The prohibition applies to toys manufactured in China. However, transitional arrangements under Para 1.5 of the Foreign Trade Policy remain unaffected, allowing imports for shipments made before the notification date, as per Para 9.11A of the Handbook of Procedures. This directive is issued with the approval of the competent authority and is addressed to all licensing authorities and customs commissioners.
