of <h1>FSSAI Appoints Authorized Officers for Food Clearance at Mumbai Ports; Importers Must Contact Designated Personnel.</h1> The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, to ensure safe food standards, including for imported items. Authorized Officers have been appointed for the clearance of imported food at Mumbai Sea Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, effective from September 1, 2010. The clearance process by FSSAI's officers commenced on September 13, 2010. In the absence of one officer, the other will assume responsibilities. Importers and trade members should note the change in authorized personnel for food clearance and contact the designated officers for necessary procedures.
