Previously, such discrepancies led to the recall and re-appraisement of the Bill of Entry, often resulting in unnecessary examinations. The new directive states that if the system shows a Re.1 shortfall, the Bill of Entry will be recalled, and the importer must pay the additional duty. If no examination order was initially given, none will be required after reassessment, allowing goods to be released without further examination.
