Customs Authority Removes Mate Receipt Requirement for Streamlined Processes; Only Needed for Manual Shipping Bills and Bulk Cargo.
The customs authority has decided to eliminate the requirement for Mate Receipts for certain customs processes. Previously, Mate Receipts were needed as proof of loading containers onto vessels and for issuing EP Copies of Shipping Bills. However, since the Export General Manifest (EGM) serves as sufficient proof of export for containerized cargo, the Mate Receipt is no longer necessary except for Manual Shipping Bills and Bulk cargo. This change aims to streamline customs procedures, and any issues should be reported to the Additional Commissioner at the Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House.
