New Rules Simplify Petroleum Crude Oil Sampling: Valid Test Reports Extended to Six Months, Random Checks Limited.
The procedure for drawing samples of imported Petroleum Crude Oil for testing has been simplified to enhance business efficiency. Previously, samples were drawn from every consignment, but now, a test report for a specific crude oil type from the same supplier will be valid for six months. This is contingent on each consignment having a test report from an accredited laboratory confirmed by CRCL, Kandla, and the importer submitting an in-house test report within 15 days of filing the Bill of Entry. Random sampling is limited to five times within the six-month period. Customs officers may draw samples if there is doubt or specific intelligence. The new procedure is effective from January 1, 2016.
