India Updates Export Rules: Free Sale Certificates for Medical Items Outside Drugs & Cosmetics Act Now Available.
The Government of India has amended the Handbook of Procedures, Vol. I (RE-2008), allowing the issuance of Free Sale and Commerce Certificates for exporting medical and surgical items not covered under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940. These items, used in hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics, are not prohibited for export. The certificate is valid for one year and is issued based on applications submitted with required documents. Appendix 39 has been updated to reflect these changes. The amendments aim to facilitate the export of eligible medical devices and instruments while ensuring compliance with existing regulations.
