<h1>Customs Act Amendment: Imported Goods Storage Extended to 30 Days, With Possible Extensions by Customs Commissioner.</h1> The amendment to Section 49 of the Customs Act, 1962, effective from May 10, 2013, as per the Union Budget 2013-14, modifies the storage terms for imported goods. Goods may now be stored in a public warehouse for up to thirty days. The Commissioner of Customs is authorized to extend this storage period by an additional thirty days at a time if needed. This change is communicated to customs brokers, trade members, and related parties for compliance. Any issues arising from this notice should be reported to the Commissioner of Customs (Import) at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House.
