of <h1>India Restructures Customs: Visakhapatnam Zone Changes Include New Vijayawada Commissionerate, Effective October 15, 2014.</h1> The Government of India has restructured the Customs formations under the Visakhapatnam Zone. The Visakhapatnam Custom House will be headed by a Principal Commissioner, covering specific ports and areas in Andhra Pradesh. The Kakinada and Krishnapatnam Customs Divisions have been reassigned to the new Vijayawada Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, which will handle preventive functions with divisions at Ongole, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam. Customs work at Kakinada and Krishnapatnam ports will continue unchanged, but approvals must go through Vijayawada (CPC). Customs appeals will be directed to Commissioners of Central Excise (Appeals) in Visakhapatnam and Guntur. These changes take effect on October 15, 2014.
