Central Government Introduces Taxpayers' Day for Direct Access to Customs Officials, Aims to Modernize Tax System.
The Central Government emphasizes reform-oriented, non-adversarial tax administration to enhance good governance. The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has implemented initiatives to facilitate trade, simplify procedures, and minimize interactions between tax officials and taxpayers. Recognizing taxpayers as vital to national economic prosperity, the CBEC aims to modernize the tax system, expand the tax base, and improve compliance. To support this, every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM is designated as Taxpayers' Day, allowing taxpayers to meet the Principal Commissioner of Customs in Bengaluru without an appointment to address grievances promptly.
