of <h1>India Restructures Mumbai Customs: Six New Commissionerates to Oversee Imports, Exports, and Appeals from October 15, 2014.</h1> The Government of India has re-organized the Customs Commissionerates in Mumbai Customs, Zone-I, effective from October 15, 2014. The re-organization, as notified on September 16, 2014, establishes the jurisdiction of six Commissionerates: Principal Commissioner of Customs (General), Commissioner of Customs (Import-I), Commissioner of Customs (Import-II), Commissioner of Customs (Export-I), Commissioner of Customs (Export-II), and Commissioner of Customs (Appeals). Each Commissionerate is assigned specific responsibilities, ranging from administrative tasks and vigilance to import/export appraisals and legal matters. The trade community is advised to note these jurisdictional changes and disseminate the information for compliance and guidance.
