It highlights that the Chief Commissioner and Commissioner are authorized to write-off amounts up to Rs. 15 Lakh and Rs. 10 Lakh, respectively. Despite instructions issued in 2011 for forming committees to recommend write-offs, many zones have not complied, resulting in 161,112 pending cases totaling Rs. 183,587 crore. The circular urges all zones to identify cases for write-off and either form the necessary committees or forward proposals to the Board for approval.
