India's DGFT Amends Foreign Trade Policy: Indian Rupee Payments for Maritime Services Now Count Toward EPCG Export Obligations.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of India has issued a public notice amending the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020 by introducing Appendix 5D. This appendix lists services for which payments received in Indian Rupees, deemed as foreign exchange, can be counted towards fulfilling export obligations under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) Scheme. These services include maintenance and repair of vessels, towing, pilotage, and various maritime transport support services. However, charges related to coastal and inland vessels, as well as coastal cargo, are excluded from this provision. Appendix 3E is not applicable under the EPCG scheme.
