Enter Seal Type A in EDI Shipping Bill to Avoid Unnecessary Customs Re-examination of Containers.
Containers stuffed under Central Excise supervision are sometimes re-examined by customs, leading to unnecessary de-stuffing and re-stuffing. To prevent this, it is advised that the seal type (seal type A) for such containers be entered at the time of filing the EDI shipping bill. This will help the Risk Management System (RMS) identify these containers and avoid unnecessary re-examination. Some Customs House Agents (CHAs) and exporters are currently entering this information only during goods registration, causing these containers to be flagged for examination. Feedback on this process is encouraged for further improvements.
