        "Tamarind Kernel Powder" Misclassified: No MEIS Benefits under ITC(HS) Code 13023290, Authorities to Recover Benefits.

        The Directorate General of Foreign Trade clarifies that "Tamarind Kernel Powder" should be classified under ITC(HS) Code 13023290, which does not qualify for the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) benefits. Some exporters have incorrectly classified it under ITC(HS) Code 11063010 to claim MEIS benefits. All Regional Authorities are instructed not to grant MEIS benefits for this product and to review and recover any benefits already granted.
